Professions & Skills
Employment Logic
Jobs are not assigned by the player. They are offered by buildings (Companies) and accepted by agents. A mismatch between available jobs and available skills leads to structural unemployment.
Job Categories
Professions are grouped into three tiers based on complexity and pay.
Tier 1: Unskilled Labor
Roles: Janitors, Assembly Line Workers, Retail Staff.
Requirements: None. Available to all new immigrants.
Pay: Minimum wage to Low.
Tier 2: Skilled Workers
Roles: Technicians, Teachers, Nurses, Police Officers.
Requirements: Specific skill points or accumulated experience.
Pay: Medium.
Tier 3: Specialists / Professionals
Roles: Surgeons, Engineers, Executives, Researchers.
Requirements: High education level and high experience.
Pay: High.
Skill Acquisition
Agents can improve their value in the labor market through two methods.
Learning by Doing: Every tick spent working slightly increases the agent's proficiency in that specific sector. An agent who works at a factory for a year becomes a "Senior Factory Worker" and demands higher pay.
Education: If the player builds Schools or Universities, agents may choose to spend their leisure time and money to attend classes. This grants a permanent boost to their Skill Level, unlocking Tier 2 and Tier 3 jobs.
The Hiring Process
Companies run a "Hiring Logic" script once per day if they have vacancies.
The Company posts a vacancy with a salary offer.
Unemployed agents within a specific radius scan for offers.
Agents compare the salary against their minimum expectation.
If a match is found, the agent is hired and begins commuting the next day.
